Strata Florida Abbey
Initially founded in 1164 on a nearby site, the present buildings were erected under the patronage of the Lord Rhys (d. 1197). The Cistercians at Strata Florida were loyal supporters of the Welsh Princes. Traditional burial place of Dafydd ap Gwilym, one of the great poets of medieval Wales. OS map 135 SN: 831261

Opening times: 01.04.09 - 30.09.09: Daily 10.00 - 17.00 .
01.10.09 - 31.03.10: The site is open with no admission charge but the shop, exhibition and museum are closed. Further information: Unstaffed sites are open to the public with no admission charge at all reasonable times, usually between 10.00 and 16.00 daily.
